Be Now My Wisdom

from Cantus Nua album in progress

A prayer for wisdom to the Irish tune SLANE, the melody of "Be Thou My Vision." Every line comes from Scripture, and the write-up shows where.

Past picks

1. October 12 ▶ Amazing Grace
New words to the tune of "House of the Rising Sun." The original hymn never says where the grace comes from. This one does: not by my works, but Christ alone. ♡ ⬇
2. September 29 ▶ Jerusalem the Golden
A twelfth-century monk's vision of heaven, sung to the melody Holst wrote for Jupiter. Old words, old tune, new arrangement, building to the shout of them that triumph, the song of them that feast. ♡ ⬇
3. September 24 ▶ Continue in the Holy Word
The first song from the next album, Cantus Nua. A hymn in the old meter, built on 2 Timothy 3: stay with the Word you learned as a child, because it's the one thing that can make you wise for salvation. ♡ ⬇
4. September 21 ▶ Live the Full Life (2027)
The theme song for the 2027 Men of His Word conference. Moses, David, and Peter all tried to carry more than they could hold. This is about what Jesus did with that. ♡ ⬇
