This song is built on John 15:5, where Jesus says:
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

This is another one of Jesus’ famous “I am” statements — but unlike some of the other songs on this album, this one isn’t written in first person, from Jesus’ voice. It’s written in the third person. I did this intentionally to help me reflect on how I personally apply this verse in my devotional life.
It’s a reminder I need constantly — thatapart from Him, I can do nothing.
No matter how much I try to “hold it all together,” it’s his Word & Sacraments, his Spirit that sustains me, prunes me, and helps me bear fruit. Apart from him, I am nothing.
This is not just a song. It’s my daily prayer.

Musically, this song traces its DNA back toPachelbel’s Canon in Dagain - just like the first song I shared, You Are the Great “I Am.”
That familiar chord progression gives it a reflective, grounded feel.
This is acontemplative track — gentle, beautiful, not showy. It’s not meant to “wow” musically, but to draw you into stillness and focus on the words.
